About Me

I am a wife, mother, teacher and three times cancer survivor, and I couldn’t be any of those things without my faith in God! In 2013 I began to have symptoms that took doctors another year to diagnose as ovarian cancer. During surgery to remove the tumour they found a separate primary womb cancer. After 6 rounds of chemo, my end of treatment scan showed up a kidney tumour, and wham, a third primary cancer was found. In February 2016 I had a radical nephrectomy to remove my kidney and now I am finally cancer free. I am in remission and living life to the full, though without many of my optional organs!

I would often sing Matt Redman’s song ‘Bless the Lord’ during the past year and the words really impacted me and how I lived through those days. If you are not familiar with it listen to it now … its amazing!  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtwIT8JjddM)

The words ‘10,000 reasons for my heart to sing’ challenged me every day to find a positive however difficult and so that is my aim with this blog, and my prayer is, as ever, “let me be singing when the evening comes”! So my aim is to blog regularly my 10,000 reasons, one by one, why my heart still sings and acknowledge all that I am grateful for.

One last thing, please get in touch with me, comment on things, share your stories, let’s encourage one another. Cancer is hell, it is scary and it is agony for the person going through it and for those around them, BUT, it is not the end, and it is not going to rob me of my joy and peace and confidence I have in Christ.
